I thought my first job better be to make it stop rather than go, heres some pics of my brakes and suspension. I've gone for 944 front and rear setup with kersher front adjustables;

heres the rears, hoping to put a similar suspension setup to remelles beetles on the rear

This next pic shows a neat little mod to work the handbrake with standard bug handbrake cables, it works perfectly!

Cheers for the interest. The 944 setup is so easy i don't know why everyone doesn't do it! The whole lot cost me £150 and was a day to fit and bleed. I also fitted a master cylinder from a 944. They work great. I'm going to fit four pots at a later date but these are fine for know. Just uploaded some more pics;

Heres a shot of the front after lowering and wheel fitting,

And with the rears on, i haven't lowered the rear yet,

Should have some pics of the engine swap in the next few days!

I like this. I think once the rear is lowered it will look so good that you wont even need to paint it

So how easy is it? I know parts are relatively cheap, as I've been toying with the idea. Mine is a standard not a 1302/3, not that that makes much difference other than clearance. I've looked at the airsouls conversion and one on Germanlook.

So what exactly is involved?

It is easier on 1303 beetles like this one as the complete spindle will bolt onto the front shocks and you only have to mod the steering balljoint to upside-down to prevent bumpsteer. I have helped fit this arrangement to a beam type and all you need to do is make a bracket to mount the calipers to the spindles, you can even buy most of the bits if you search for them on the net. If you do a irs conversion on the back you can fit the entire arm and brakes assembly, i just had to bolt them onto mine. For the reletively small costs the return is well worth it.
